Melasma Treatment
The Dual Yellow Laser is a pigmentation reduction laser that treats melasma particularly well. “Dual” because it can also reduce tiny blood vessels that gather around melasma patches.
The underlying copper bromide laser technology, emitting two wavelengths to penetrates and treat deep into the skin, without harming surrounding tissues. “Two wavelengths” so that it can reduce not only the accumulated pigments, but also the tiny blood vessels in the skin which we now know are among the causes of melasma.
In fact, the Dual Yellow Laser obtained FDA approval not just for treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions, such as melasma, it is also approved for the treatment of seborrheic keratosis, rosacea and acne marks.

Vascular lesions like telengiectasia or rosacea
The Dual Yellow Laser coagulates vessels and treats splotchy red discolouration of skin. The red blood cells absorb the yellow laser’s energy which destroys the blood vessels from within.
Acne
The yellow light destroys P.acnes, the acne causing bacteria, and shrinks sebaceous glands hence reducing sebum production. It can also lighten the brown blemishes and scars left behind by pimples.
Bulky Lesion
Lesions like seborrhoeic keratosis, milia, moles can be instantly ablated with the powerful green/yellow beam with permanent results. Unlike traditional resurfacing lasers, Dual Yellow Laser removes skin growths easily without causing any bleeding or any damage to the surrounding skin.
The Dual Yellow Laser rapid pulses of low intensity laser energy that causes a cascade of chemical reactions within cells but limits thermal damage to other structures which can cause burns or PIH (post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). The chemical reactions suppress VEGF which further reduces risk of PIH.
While we now understand that melasma is caused by 3 underlying factors to varying degrees, attacking them requires a combined approach. A form of Microneedling RF called Sylfirm heals the basement membrane weakness, while the Dual Yellow Laser destroys the pigments (preventing new ones) and clears up the excessive blood vessels.
Our Founder
Dr. David Loh founded David Loh Surgery in 2002, during the early days of Aesthetic Medicine. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore and has over 30 years of clinical experience, with more than 20 years dedicated to aesthetics.
Dr Loh is Accredited by MOH to perform liposuction. He is best known as an international trainer for BTX and Dermal Fillers. He has published extensively on injection techniques and the management of serious complications, with one of his papers awarded a Gold Medal by the PRS Global Journal. His contributions to the field include serving as the immediate past President of the Society of Aesthetic Medicine in Singapore.
