a.k.a Micro-B*Toxin or Meso-B*Toxin, the pore-size reduction treatment
Most IPLs and Lasers, Microneedling RF treatments can reduce pores indirectly. Even a chemical peel has some benefits. In this page, we will discuss Intradermal Botulinum Toxins which has several other names like micro-b*tox, meso-b*tox.
Intradermal Botulinum Toxins directly target the muscles that open pores. It reduces old and sweat gland secretions and hence refines skin.
About the procedure
In this instance, Intradermal Botulinum Toxins is not injected into the muscles of facial expression but on the fine muscles in the skin that control pore size – the erector pili. These muscles are literally within the skin, hence the name Intradermal Botulinum Toxins. They are the ones that make your hair stand on ends or cause goose bumps. The effect of Intradermal Botulinum Toxins injected in this manner contracts the skin’s pores.
Smaller pores result in a smaller skin surface area hence making skin more stretched out over the face. This is of course in theory only. The effects are quite mild. More research needs to be done with regards to this.
The shots along the jaw line reduce the downward drag of the platysmus muscle. A non-surgical facelift we call the “The B*Toxin Lift” is as such achieved.
We recommend that Intradermal Botulinum Toxins be done together with a Q-switch Nd Yag laser or IPL for their synergistic properties in the reduction of active acne and post-acne marks (PIH). It is also good in the control of acne-like eruptions associated with Rosacea. When used as The B*Toxin Lift, we recommend that it be done with Softwave, Ultherapy Prime or Thermage, again for the synergistic effects.
