Hyperhidrosis
Hyperhidrosis is the condition characterised by excessive sweat. In the palms, hyperhidrosis can pose as a barrier to ordinary socialising. Some severe cases interfere with many daily living, but most cases are mild. B*tox is a proven effective method to control sweating in the palms. Our subdermal laser is not suitable for the palms.
Starch is sprinkled over iodine to demarcate the areas of heavy sweating. The starch turns a dark brown or black color. This is then wiped away and the area demarcated by a surgical pen. Botulinum toxins is then injected with a 32G needle 1cm apart.
Anaesthesia in the form of a wrist block is routinely given for Botulinum toxins injections into the palms.
For the armpits the small pricks are quite bearable without anesthesia. Or else we can admister a local anaesthetic to the area before the injections. We use ice packs to freeze the areas for pain reduction as well as to stop excessive bleeding.
We can also use a Subdermal Laser to permanently treat sweaty on the armpits.
For the palms then only option is Botulinum toxins. Actually there are other options, but we do not offer these:
The initial Botulinum Toxins injections can sometimes last up to 6 months, but more likely only 4 months.
The treatment of Hyperhidrosis on both palms cost SGD$2,000 to $3,000. The armpits typically require even more Botulinum Toxins.
For the armpits, we have a more lasting solution in the form of a Subdermal LASER. The laser destroys the sweat glands from under the skin. This costs SGD$2,500 for a 50%-60% long term reduction in sweating.
Our Founder
Dr. David Loh founded David Loh Surgery in 2002, during the early days of Aesthetic Medicine. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore and has over 30 years of clinical experience, with more than 20 years dedicated to aesthetics.
Dr Loh is Accredited by MOH to perform liposuction. He is best known as an international trainer for BTX and Dermal Fillers. He has published extensively on injection techniques and the management of serious complications, with one of his papers awarded a Gold Medal by the PRS Global Journal. His contributions to the field include serving as the immediate past President of the Society of Aesthetic Medicine in Singapore.
